WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

It's difficult to build muscle and decrease body fat if you're not consistent for long enough to reap the benefits of your effort. Most try to learn more and more information, and then perfectly plan out their meals and workouts for the week, but then get thrown off when life happens. You try to follow a plan using your will power and absolutely “ideal” circumstances that often aren’t realistic. Dinners out, weekend trips, vacations, work travel, staying late at work, overbooking yourself (guilty!) are all part of life. 

Aside from simply maintaining things, it takes 2-6 months to make noticeable changes to your physique. During that time life will happen. Then moving forward as you sustain those changes for the long term, life will definitely not always be “ideal”! No wonder you feel "off", like it's too much to manage, and frustrated week after week of not making the progress you want. Trying to create a perfect plan that is A) based on ideal unrealistic circumstances and B) not flexible is setting you up for failure
